Fortnite install failed or update stuck? Check the error code first
An installation failure is not the same thing as a game ban. If Fortnite will not download, install or update, record the full Epic Games Launcher message and identify when the failure happens. Epic's October 2026 IS-UP-IZ04 update issue, LS-0006, low storage and Easy Anti-Cheat startup problems need different checks.

Does an install or update error mean your account is banned?
No. Epic's LS-0006 explanation says the Launcher cannot install or update the game. An account sanction is a separate decision with a separate notification. Start with the complete code, not a purchase or hardware change.

IS-UP-IZ04: What Epic actually fixed in October 2026
In the v42.40 release update, last updated October 15 at 12:37 p.m. ET (October 16 in Japan), Epic announced a fix for IS-UP-IZ04 affecting some PC players installing the latest update. If the code remains, Epic advises exiting the Launcher completely from its taskbar icon and opening it again. This is a dated notice about this code, not a universal fix for every installation failure.
Four checks to make before reinstalling Fortnite
- Save the full error code and text, the time, and whether it happened while downloading, installing, patching or launching.
- Look up that specific message in Epic's Fortnite support and check the official service status.
- Confirm the installation drive has sufficient free space and that the Epic Games Launcher is up to date.
- Follow the applicable Epic instructions. Record any changed message rather than repeating unrelated fixes.
LS-0006: Clear only the Launcher's documented cache folders
For LS-0006, Epic explains how to exit the Launcher, open %localappdata%, then open EpicGamesLauncher/Saved. Only delete the documented webcache, webcache_4147 or webcache_4430 folders if present. The Launcher regenerates its cache when reopened. Epic also suggests checking administrator permissions and, later, reinstalling the game. Deleting the game itself should not be your first step because downloads take time and data may need checking.
Storage, prerequisites and damaged files are different problems
A low-space warning calls for checking the drive selected for Fortnite. Errors when closing the game may call for Epic Launcher Library β three dots beside Fortnite β Manage β Verify; Epic says this checks and repairs differing files without affecting saved data. A SU-PQR or SU-PQE prerequisite error is instead covered by Epic's Launcher prerequisites instructions, including Windows updates, administrator permissions and supported Microsoft Visual C++ packages.
What if the game installs, but EAC or an account notice stops you?
Use the separate Easy Anti-Cheat startup guide for anti-cheat setup errors. If Epic issued a sanction, review the account sanction and appeal steps. Installing or repairing Fortnite cannot overturn an account enforcement decision.
After the game works, compare XDAY's Fortnite listings by purpose
